How we calculate
We compare the certain yearly premium saving with the extra deductible paid on the day of a claim, weighted by the claim frequency you enter.
Assumptions
- By default, one claim every ten years: a prudent value, to adjust.
Limits
- A claim’s effect on future premiums and insurer cancellation thresholds are not modelled.
Two equal premiums do not protect the same
| Clause | What it changes | What to ask the insurer |
|---|---|---|
| Amount insured | It sets the maximum paid; too low leaves a gap, too high pays for nothing. | How the amount was worked out. |
| Deductible | The share you bear on every loss. | The deductible by type of damage. |
| Exclusions | What the contract refuses to cover, even if it seems obvious. | The written list of exclusions. |
| Renewal | The premium can rise at maturity without the coverage changing. | The premium expected at the next term. |
